Printer-friendly versionI really needed to get outside today after work. Swimming season is over, so I took my fruit picking pole and big bag and headed for the apple trees on the old hotel grounds. There are still lots of good apples on those trees and I picked enough to fill my bag. The ones with blemishes will be used for apple cake and the good looking ones will become part of the apple tasting at school this week. A couple of bucks and does hung around, hoping for some windfall from my picking. I could almost touch them. Too bad I did not bring the camera. Oh well, need to keep that picture in my mind. The remnants of the old cabins are all gone now and lots of stuff raked together for burning. I stumbled over some cut off vines which I gathered for use in my stick fence. With bulging apple bag, picking pole and armful of vines I headed home along the beach. By the time I reached the steep path leading from the beach to our house all my muscles ached and I had to leave the vines behind, to be picked up on my next outing.
